Stratus
Stratus
Though we glow
we’re not the sun.
It is the moon
in daylight
we replace,
not to blot out the sun.
We have our own pain.
To be partner to the sun,
to be the sun on earth
is why we join hands
and fail to shine
and though the sun is always over
still the earth scowls
scowls and hates us.
Give us one thing, she asks.
Rain, she asks.
Sometimes we do.
Sometimes we give up
but never for love.
For love we would hang over you forever
like the moon in daylight.
